I just wanted to take a few moments to let you know how much I appreciate the opportunity that you gave me, giving me this job. I know I wasn't the most ideal candidate but you took a risk and hopefully you think that it has paid off. I know this isn't an official meeting, but I wanted to make sure that you're happy with my work and ask if there's anything I can do better. Oh! Well, that's always good to hear, but I thought this conversation might go a little bit differently and I had a few things planned to show you my initiative.
